The primary role of the Domestic Sales Assistant – Retail is to support the grocery retail sales managers and directors with various tools and knowledge for further growth of sales. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
SALES SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES
Strong interaction with and support for broker networks and sales management networks in developing further sales in each region.
Analyze distributor velocity reports in order to forecast future production needs and develop strategy for category reviews.
Using distributor reporting systems, track and provide routine reporting on status and progress of customers’ sales.
Work with national sales directors in analyzing the correct mix of products for retailers, keeping careful consideration to slow moving products for swap outs.
Manage distributor and retail chain promotional programs.
Ensure show leads are processed, compile post-event reports and conduct analysis to determine effectiveness of each event as well as recommendations for similar events.
Analyze sales growth patterns and assist full service marketing group in advertising strategies with both distributors and retailers in order to get the best bang for buck and move product off of the shelves.
Analyze and approve distributor deductions.
Fill out necessary retail program paperwork (NuVal scoring, etc.) needed for pre-stocking requirements.
Process sample request forms from brokers and sales management, coordinating with Office Services Coordinator.
Coordinate with full service marketing group on needed distributor and retail advertisements and other projects as needed.
Creative input for developing new business strategies and improving client relationships.
Step in for shelf stable/frozen sales directors as needed.
Assist with day to day sales needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum 4-6 years experience in retail sales or sales assistant/support positions.
Minimum 2-3 years marketing experience at the assistant or associate level (graphic/design software a PLUS).
Exceptional and communication skills to include written, verbal and interpersonal.
Effective presentation skills in small groups and knowledge and experience using design software skills a PLUS.
Ability to deal professionally and effectively with all types and level of individuals and co-workers with a “can do” attitude.
High degree of accuracy and detail and results oriented.
Ability to work independently with concentration and focus to complete simultaneous projects under tight deadlines.
Proficient analytical skills that enable independent research and analysis.
Ability to work with numbers with 100% accuracy and completeness.
Advanced skills in MS Office Suite essential (especially Excel).
Creativity to present ideas on development of sales materials.
Ability to multi-task is paramount for this position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit at computer for several hours/day.
Approximately 10-20% travel required for sales meetings, public relation functions, trade shows; thus, ability to travel independently essential to perform the essential responsibilities of this position.
